My name's Annie Watsham and I am a journalist by profession, a Life Coach and a businesswoman. My connection with the Gurkhas began 11 years ago when I trekked in the Nepali Himalayas for a British charity called Whizz-Kidz. I contacted Joanna Lumley, as I knew her father had served with the Gurkhas, and asked her to sponsor me, which she very kindly did.

Nine years later I met Peter Carroll in my local town of Cranbrook in Kent, where he was campaigning for Gurkha justice and where I signed the petition. He asked advice on how to get far more coverage in all areas for the Gurkha Justice Campapign and I suggested that he get in touch with Joanna Lumley to further promote the campaign and to get more coverage in the newspapers and on TV.

Unbeknown to me he did this and it wasn't until May 2009 that I realised that newspapers and TV companies were searching for the 'mystery woman' - Peter Carroll wanted to thank me for my input! This lead to meeting Joanna Lumley in person in Cranbrook and much media coverage including TV and radio.

Since then I have been invited to many Gurkha events and become very involved with many of the communities and individulas both in the UK and in Nepal. 

I have built my website www.gurkhabusinesscommunity.com to help facilitate affordable business opportunities and other help and advice for Gurkhas and Nepalese both in the UK and abroad. I have many enquiries through this about a huge range of subjects from where to get a good (honest!) mortgage broker to how to help grow a travel business in Nepal!

I am also editing a new magazine due to launch in April for the Nepalese Caterers Association. Called AGENA it is to do with all things catering and related as well as general information for the public. This magazine is a high quality publication to be published quarterly. I shall post more on this site and my www.gurkkhabussinesscommunity.com site as things progress! this will be circulated and distributed both in the UK and Nepal.

My commitment to the Gurkha Peace Foundation and its work is absolute - I wish to help all I can and look forward  to hearing from Gurkhas and Nepalese friends, both old and new, through either website!
